Animal Cruelty: Help to Stop Dog-Meat Trade in China

Letter to: Chinese President Xi Jinping
(Change.org Petition)
President Xi Jinping:
We, the undersigned, urge you to put an end to the corrupt and horrific Chinese dog meat and dog and cat fur trades immediately.
Recently the world watched as Chinese police stood up for the corrupt dog meat traders and beat activists who tried to stop a truck overloaded with 900 dogs, some of them family pets.
Undercover footage has shown dogs and cats being skinned alive, some still able to hold their heads up as they look into a camera. Because of these inhumane and fiendish acts, people around the world are looking at China with shame and disdain.
The purpose of this petition is to demand that China design and implement anti-cruelty laws now, and end all aspects of the corrupt dog and cat trade. China is being ruined in the eyes of the world and many people already boycott all Chinese made products.
Is it worth it to have the good people of your country dragged through the mud because of a few who behave without dignity, humanity or honor?
Please do the right thing for your country and your presidency and draft animal anti-cruelty laws, and ban the dog and cat meat and fur trade now. The world is watching and the world stands in solidarity with the brave activists who rescued the 900 dogs in Anwen town.
Thank you

Investigate and Arrest Offenders of Biggest Dog Fight Ring in Florida:
  • Author: SUE LEE Target: Central Florida Apopka Police Signatures: 30,552

Please sign and share this petition everywhere in an effort to fully investigate this largest dog fighting ring ever in Central Florida, arrest and charge all involved in this cruel activity. When alarmed by the bust from police, some 40 men and women scattered everywhere throughout the night, leaving behind many personal items. Sadly, dozens of dogs were noted with injuries suffered as a result of fighting. We need to continue our quest to put an end to dogfights nationwide, including this large one found in Central Florida.
We often wonder, when will these dog fighting rings stop?? Apopka police officers were summoned to a home in Central Florida where they came across one of the largest dog fighting rings they have seen throughout the state. Several dozen suspects were arrested and many dogs removed from the scene; dogs that have been bred specifically to kill!
A spokesperson fighting against animal cruelty states "We've seen a lot more interest from law enforcement on taking down dogfighters. Almost everyone at these dogfights is a hard-core criminal. You don't have anyone leaving the dogfight to go to church." More than 26 people were taken into custody and two children ages 3 and 5 were also found at the scene. They were placed with grandparents away from the deplorable feces-filled home they knew. What is also appalling is that, of the 26 people arrested, at least two of them have prior cases involving animal cruelty or violating county nuisance-animal ordinances dating back to 2004 and 2005: Adell Dawson, 39, and Benjamin Ponder, 26.
Emaciated dogs were left behind in pools of blood, dilapidated cages and dirty chains. Several animals were taken by animal control, which said many of them are in poor health and on the "verge of death." Investigators said they also believe several dogs could be buried on the property. "I don't know who finds entertainment in torturing, or thinks that animals attacking and fighting to the death is entertaining. I don't understand that," stated one of the officials at the site. In the back of the house, police uncovered a training room with a dog treadmill and a punching bag.
Through additional investigation of the property, they found caged chickens, a rabbit and a raccoon that were all used as bait animals to incite the dogs. In all, they removed 34 of the dogs, mostly pit-bull mixes. Animal investigators claim it is too early to say what will happen to all the dogs, stating "We will be assessing them to determine the level of their health and caring for them while the investigation is ongoing. " Among the dogs rescued was mother and her puppies.
All these people involved need to be punished severely and banned from working with, owning or even coming within inches of another animal the rest of their lives. If the punishment would have fit the crime the first time, maybe there would not be repeat offenders!!

Statewide Pit Bull Bans Begin to Soften | Valley News

Attitudes have softened considerably as animal activists and television shows like Animal Planet’s Pit Bulls and Parolees cast the dogs in a more positive light. And it illustrates the power and persistence of dog-advocacy groups that have worked to fend off pit bull restrictions.

“Lawmakers are realizing that targeting dogs based on their breed or what they look like is not a solution to dealing with dangerous dogs,” said Lisa Peterson, a spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club.

Seventeen states now have laws that prohibit communities from adopting breed-specific bans. Lawmakers in six more states are considering similar measures, and some cities are reviewing local policies that classify pit bulls as dangerous animals.

Meet the Pit Pack Series: "Red Baron," Ambassador to Stop Pit Bull Breed Bans

Say hello to our little friend!

A four year old red nose pit bull named Red! Named after
the infamous World War I fighter pilot "Red Baron" for his heroic efforts, bravery, and ability to remain calm no matter what the situation!

Being extremely intelligent, he prefers to study everything that goes on around him. Red definitely takes his title as a pit bull ambassador very seriously!

His consistent display of positive attributes bring about perfect balance within the pack! Uncanny canine wisdom, infinite patience, and his ability to lead by example demonstrate just a few reasons why this breed so desperately needs to be preserved.

When raised properly, by responsible and knowledgeable owners, pit bulls contribute WAY more to our society living among us than if they were banished as a result of discriminative breed bans.

Pit bulls not the only dogs that attack...

"Pit bulls are unfortunately abused by misguided owners who are only interested in using them -illegally - as fighting dogs, a means to amass wealth. Pit bulls may have that protective instinct bred into them, but it's also true that most pit bulls never turn on anyone at all.

Laws should not target specific breeds of dogs, but rather should clarify responsibilities and address problematic behaviors associated with dangerous dogs of any breed..."
